Dr. A. R. Lord Book Exchange
Dr. A. R. Lord staff and PAC would like to present our school’s first annual book exchange!
We would like to invite students to bring in any old books (good condition) they have outgrown to exchange for one ‘new’ book to enjoy over the summer. Books should be for children in Kindergarten to Grade 7. Collection boxes will be available outside of each classroom each morning from May 27th until June 6th where students can drop off their books before the start of the school day.
On June 20th all students (regardless of whether they were able to donate a book or not) will be invited to the gymnasium where they will be allowed to choose one ‘new’ book for free.
At the year-end BBQ on June 20th, all ‘leftover’ books will be available for sale at 50 cents each, with all proceeds going towards next year’s book exchange. We hope to see you all there!

Fruit & Vegetable Program
This week the students will receive another delivery from the BC School Fruit & Vegetable Nutritional Program.
Kindergarten to Grade 2 students will also be receiving cow's milk or a fortified soy beverage as part of the +Milk program. Here's scoop number nine on MILK.
SLICED APPLES
Apples are grown on deciduous trees (Malus domestica) which reach a height of 3 to 12 meters (9.8 to 39 ft).
Tens of thousands of varieties are grown worldwide.
Apples are a pomaceous fruit, meaning they have extra or accessory flesh around the core of seeds.
For further information, fascinating facts and interesting history on this delicious fruit please read the SCOOP on apples.
Students will receive their delivery during class time. This snack is not meant to replace the foods students normally eat at school. Students can make their own decisions on whether to taste the fruits offered.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the PAC or contact the school administration at 604-713-4620.

Sports Day Friday, May 16
Our school's Sports Day is coming up this Friday, May 16. The PAC will be providing all students, staff, and volunteers with a free snack and pizza lunch. We will also be running a concession with tea, coffee, canned drinks, snacks, home baking, and pizza by the slice.
This year, we are attempting to reduce waste, so we ask that all students bring their own refillable water bottle to Sports Day. There will be water stations for refills on the school grounds.
Students, please dress in your team colours if you can.
Parents, if you are able to bring some nut-free home baking to sell, please do!
Students will be dismissed at 2 pm.
