Second Term Report Cards

Report cards were sent home on Friday March 10th, the last day before Spring Break!
Student Progress report requirements are part of the BC Education Curriculum requirements. Each Student's Parent/Guardian will receive:
  • Three formal written report cards each year, including one at the end of the school year. These are written on an approved form, identify student progress and are placed in the student's permanent file.
  • Two informal reports each year. Each school decides on how informal reporting takes place. A.R. Lord uses student lead conferences with parents and teachers for informal reporting.

Robotics Invasion at A.R. Lord Elementary

A robotics curriculum is a popular new project based learning opportunity that revolves around Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM).

At the most recent Parent Advisory Council Meeting, Secondary Teacher/Parent John Silver demonstrated just one of the new VEX IQ Robots that is being introduced into A.R. Lord classrooms this spring.

Students will have the opportunity to learn the basics of robotics and then build and code the robots. Students will solve technical challenges through collaboration, competition, and innovation.

What is a robot?
A robot is a mechanical device that can be programmed to follow a set of instructions. It has a processing unit, sensors to perceive its environment, and motors and actuators to move its limbs or wheels. It may speak, make other sounds, or flast with lights and colours in response to the environment as per instructions. Robots need the ability to follow programmed instructions and not just be controlled remotely.
Most importantly, ROBOTS ARE FUN and coming to A.R. Lord School!
