Lunar New Year with REAL Parents Group
Dr. A.R. Lord students were treated to fun lunar new years activities on Friday Feb 27th. The REAL (Relevant Education for Adult Learners) Group are ESL parents and grandparents that meet every week in the school library. They participate in crafts, field trips, learning language and other activities at our school.
This year they hosted lunar new year crafts, games and snacks for all students with funding provided by the Parent Advisory Council (PAC). Grade 7 students also volunteered and helped organize the event.
This is another great example of how community, culture, and classroom all come together to create something special at A.R. Lord Elementary!

Did You Know? REAL Parents
Have you heard about the REAL Parents group? REAL stands for Relevant Education for Adult Learners, and they are a Chinese-speaking parent and grandparent group who meets every Thursday morning in the library. They participate in crafts, field trips, language learning, and other activities. The REAL Parents are a valuable part of our school; they cook chow mein for the students for our Chinese New Year hot lunch, and open up the library for a day of Chinese New Year crafts and food.
