Dancing Tutorial for Parents and Kids

Join in on a tutorial refresher for some fun dance moves (allemande left and do si do) this Friday April 8th from 3:00 - 4:00pm in the Gym in preparation to get your moves on  for the upcoming Family Dance! Parents, caregivers, and kids welcome! Principal Ms. Car and Music Teacher Ms. Young-Eng will be leading the tutorial.

Inaugural Before and After School Care Program for Dr. A.R. Lord Elementary

The Dr. A.R. Lord Elementary School before and after school care program at the Hastings Community Centre is in it's second week of operation.  The creation of this important program to provide out of school care started four years ago when a gap in affordable and accessible child care was identified by our school's families.  A lot of hard work and determination by parents and community members has gone into making this a reality.    In particular many thanks to the Hastings Community Association that provided support, space and resources to incorporate this much needed program into the Hastings Community Centre that sits right next door to the school.

Before and After School Care Program Preparations are Underway. Donations Call out!


Happily, the PAC is announcing an upcoming toy and equipment drive for  the New Before and After School Care Program that will be run out of the Hastings Community Centre.  The Dr. A.R. Lord PAC and the Hastings Community Association have been able to create a great solution for child care within our neighborhood for the upcoming 2014-15 year.  As this will be the first year in operation, we are seeking donations to sustainably create this new school age care facility.   Everyone knows the 3 R's of environmental sustainability - we are asking you to help us REUSE good quality items that are required by the Community Care and Facility Branch as part of a good child care program. Please look around your homes, other friends and family abodes for these items.  We  have a drop off room located downstairs of Hasting Community Centre in the Arts and Craft room.

Additionally during the PNE, we will collecting items as noted below and arrangements can be made for direct pickup:

Wednesday, August 20th 6:30-8:00
Tuesday, August 26th 3:30-4:30

Please email or phone Ali Roling with your donation items so that we don’t double up on things and make more work for everyone.  Any extra items will be sold at the Hastings Community Centre Flea Market and proceeds will go to the Dr. A.R. Lord PAC for our students.

Hastings Community Centre Preschool - Childcare Legacy Award

The Hastings Community Centre Preschool, which is the precursor for many Dr. A.R. Lord students, just received the BC Ministry of Children and Family Development - CHILDCARE LEGACY AWARD for 2014 for over forty years of service.                                                                    We congratulate the Hastings Community Association and all the wonderful staff for caring for our little ones with such dedication and professionalism!  Dr. A.R. Lord PAC looks forward to continued collaboration and partnerships for preschool, before and after school care and activities for our children and families.
