Inspection of Schools after Recent Earthquake

After the recent 4.3 magnitude earthquake that occurred on Dec 29th, 2015 - the Vancouver School District conducted visual inspections of the interior and exterior of school buildings and structures. For more information, see their recent announcement:  http://www.vsb.bc.ca/earthquake
Seismic stability of many of the aging schools continues to be a concern for parents. A comprehensive assessment was carried out in 2012.  Details of the assessment and status of project can be found at: http://www.vsb.bc.ca/seismic-information

PAC Meeting and Big One @ 2 Emergency Drill May 7th Thursday


On Thursday this week the VSB emergency drill will be held at 2:00 pm. This will include release to authorized parents or designates as part of the procedure. Be sure to have your pickup contact information unto date. Please also ensure your child is dressed properly as the drill will be held outdoors.  

A reminder that this thursday evening at 6:30 will be the May 7th Parent Advisory Council Meeting.  The meeting will be held in the school library and childminding is provided.  Elections for PAC Executive will also be held.

Emergency Supplies Storage Art Mural Project - Week of Aug 18

Hastings Community Centre is coordinating an art mural project for an emergency supply storage container in the neighbourhood.  Come by during the evenings during the week of August 18th from 7-9pm to say hi, help paint and spread the word to your friends and neighbours.

This container will hold supplies as part of the City of Vancouver's Emergency Preparedness Initiative.
