Sports Day 2016

The annual School Sports Day is held in public schools all across Canada in the spring.  It is a day of celebration, fun and competition. It is an occasion to signal the nearing of the end of the school year, to put books and lessons aside for a day, and focus on fitness and sport. 

A.R. Lord students recently held a fun-filled sports day with the help of some student volunteers from high school. Parents/families also chipped in and ran a bake sale concession and the Parent Advisory Council treated all students and staff to a recess snack and pizza lunch.  Students donned their team colours, made banners and cheered on their team mates. 

A highlight event of the day was the "Ball between the legs Relay" for these primary students!

Sports Day Thursday May 19

Thursday is Sports Day for all students at A.R. Lord Elementary. Don't forget to send your child in their designated team colour.  After the 9:00am bell kids will head straight to sports day to compete in fun participation activities.
A recess snack and pizza/fruit lunch will be provided compliments of the Parent Advisory Council for all students and teachers.
A concession will also be offered during the day and will include coffee, juice, baked goods, snacks and extra pizza to purchase for parents, volunteers etc.

Sports day will end at 1:00pm and children can be picked up early or at the regular 3:00pm.

May 19th Thursday is A.R. Lord Sports Day! Lend a hand to make the day a fun filled day for all! Signup for one or more spots (and still have some time to watch and enjoy!) on our online volunteer signup.  You don't need to setup an account, just enter your email to register for a spot and you will get an email reminder:

Purple Monkeys!

Sports Day was a blast for all students who were supported by teachers, staff, parents and student volunteers from neighbouring high schools!  Potato Sack Races, Dress-up relay, Kick Ball, and Egg in Spoon were some of the classic outdoor games that were played!

The Parent Advisory Council hosted a free pizza lunch.  The concession and bake sale were overseen by Shannon VH, Linda D, and Sher R!  We are also grateful to the many parent volunteers helped bake treats, setup, run concession and clean up.  

We can't wait till next year to do it all over again!

Parents and Caregivers, the A.R. Lord PAC will be providing complimentary recess snack and pizza lunch for staff and students on Sports Day this Friday. 
Come and volunteer if you can spare an hour during any of the following times:

Morning Shift - between 8:45-11:00 - to help with setup, concession, serving snack.

Lunch Shift - between 11:00-1:15 - to help with concession, serving lunch, and cleanup.
