Equal Play for Girls: Carrie Serwetnyk - An Inspiration to A.R. Lord Girls

Grade 4 to 7 girls just completed 7 weeks of lunchtime soccer and had the opportunity to work with Carrie Serwetnyk.  Carrie is the founder of Equal Play FC, the first woman inductee in the the Canadian Soccer Hall of Fame, a National Champion and participated in the World Cup and the Olympics.

Equal Play equalplayfc.com promotes exercise and sport for girls, teaches them empowerment, strength, leadership and teamwork.  Select VSB Elementary schools are participating in the Girl Legacy Program. All the girls had fun and were inspired to achieve their best in sport. They each also received their very own soccer ball!

What a great lead up to the FIFA 2015 Women's World Cup with finals being hosted in Vancouver in July.  Neighbouring Empire Fields at Hastings Park will also be one of the official training sites for the National Canada Women's team.  We hope that you get a chance to see them in action
