Divisions 4 and 7 have continued their visits to the garden in June. Two weeks ago, Matthew from the EYA came and gave a great talk to both classes on insects. In the garden we found a spider carrying her egg sac, an ant's nest, a chafer beetle pupa, worms, beetles, and centipedes. Last week we followed up with a discussion on seeds and flowers, and the students picked and tasted flowers from broccoli, sage, chive, and sorrel plants.
The students have also been busy planting! Tomatoes, beans, pumpkins, sunflowers, parsley and Swiss chard will be on the menu for fall.
