Friday April 7th - PAC Hot Lunch for those that have preordered

Saturday April 8th - Garibaldi/AR Lord Manure Sale in the parking lot West of the School. 9am-1pm (or until we sell out). 

Tuesday April 11th - PAC Meeting in the library at 6:30pm. All welcome. We will be discussing planning for the family dance, sports day, year end bbq and upcoming pac exec elections plus an update from the School Principal on the school strategic plan and school budget.

Nutrition Presentation and Nuba Lunch

A.R. Lord Elementary students, teachers, staff and parent volunteers were treated to a great presentation on nutrition and healthy eating in February. Nuba restaurant and registered dietician from NutriFoodie, Cristel Moubarak came into the school and brought in a wide variety of foods for  lunch including: Whole Wheat Pita, Fatoush Salad, Pickles, Olives, Feta, Hummus, Brown Rice, Lentil Stew, Felafel, Tahini and Tzatziki.  Everyone learned about the amazing nutrition packed chickpea, ate a delicious meal and had a great time!

PAC Hot Lunch with Nuba on Friday Feb 10

Nuba will be providing A.R. Lord students with a special educational presentation: Staff from NUBA will be teaching us about healthy eating and sustainability before the meal that includes: Hummus, Pickles, Olives, Feta, Fatoush Salad, Mjadra, Crispy Onion, Falafel, Brown Rice, Pita,Tahini, Hot Sauce and Tzatziki!

Hot Lunch

The PAC Lunches are held once or twice a month and enjoyed by students and parents (who get the day off from sending their lunch kit)! Special thanks to Linda, Serina, Ben and Mona for all their help on during the recent PAC Lunch on April 27th!

Please also remember to submit hot lunch forms/payment.

Hot Lunch Forms Due Thur March 10th

Lunch forms are due next week before Spring Break.  Please turn in order forms and payment by Thurs March 10th into the PAC Mail box at the front office.

REMINDER:  Friday March 4th is Pro-D: No School in session

PAC Lunch Orders Still Available for February

A.R. Lord students can still submit orders the February 24th PAC Lunch.  The lunch consists of a hotdog (veggie or chicken dog), fruit/veggie, milk, and baked good for $5.00.

Order forms are available at the school.  Deadline for orders is Friday Feb 12th.  Treat your kids to a hot lunch.... and yourself to a day off from making lunches! 

PAC Hot Lunch on Today

Wednesday Dec 2nd is the PAC Hot Lunch (Hot Dog, Milk, Fruit/Veg and Baked Good) for those who have pre-ordered. See the pics from our November Pizza Hot Lunch.

CHOCOLATE AND PIZZA!

A reminder and update:

A dark chocolate option is now available for the Lord Lion Lollies (in addition to the milk chocolate)! If you would like dark chocolate, please indicate clearly on your order forms, which are due by November 25th with payment (in the PAC mailbox).

PAC Pizza hot lunch will be held this Friday Nov 20th for all those who preordered.  Note please still send a recess snack for your child. Any additional parent volunteers who are available to help serve/cleanup at lunchtime see Linda D.

Halloween Hot Lunch

On the Friday before Halloween, the Parent Advisory Council hosted Hot Lunch.  

Parent helpers lead by PAC Member Linda,  prepared and served A.R. Lord students and staff a wonderful free lunch of hot dogs on whole wheat buns,  juicy mandarin oranges, baby carrots, and lovely halloween sugar cookies baked by small business owner/baker:  Munchies by Mash.

We also had the great collaboration of local neighbourhood Donald's Market at Nanaimo and Hastings who provided great value on our food purchases and convenient delivery right to our school!

Thank you to the Dr. A.R. Lord Alumni Association.  You have been great contributors to our community and a great example of the bright and talented youth that have passed through the halls of Dr. A.R. Lord elementary.

Thank you for your wonderful pumpkin patches, generous thanksgiving hampers to families in need, car washes, holiday crafts, cookie decorating, fund raising, and generosity!
We wish you all well on your future endeavours as you move onto the next exciting new challenges and opportunities.  We are forever grateful!

This Halloween, the A.R. Lord Parent Advisory Council will be hosting a free hotdog (veggie and turkey) lunch + fruit + treat for all students on Friday October 30th!
(If you prefer that your child not participate in the free lunch, please feel free to email the PAC in advance arlordpac@gmail.com and provide your own lunch)

PAC Lunch - Volunteers with big Hearts!

The Parent Advisory Council (PAC) hot lunches are such a treat for kids (and a welcome day off from figuring out what to send the kids for lunch for parents).  At the heart of these events are the parent volunteers that work behind the scenes and on the front line!

We also have the generous support of school staff and neighbouring Hastings Community Centre Association who has made their commercial kitchen facilities available to do the preparation in a food safe manner.


Turkey and Veggie Hotdogs on wholewheat buns, mini muffins, oranges and milk were on the menu.


The PAC also ensures that all children can participate and that no child will be excluded due to financial reasons.  Accessibility, building community, sharing and fun are also a priority for our school.

The hot lunch schedule for 2015 will be distributed in the new year.

Sushi, Apples, Cookies and Milk were served at the Nov 27 PAC Lunch.  

PAC Hot Lunch Day

Pizza, Apples, Milk and Rice Crispy Treats were served at our first Hot Lunch of the year.  Smiles all the way around!

Thumbs up to all the volunteers (especially Serina whose home made delicious rice crispy treats were a huge hit) !

Sushi lunch is scheduled for  Thursday November 27th.

The PAC coordinates lunch orders on specific dates for students.  Meals are served with a fruit or vegetable side, milk or water and dessert.  Sign up for one day or all!
