May 16th PAC Meeting

Next Tuesday on May 16th is the Last PAC Meeting of the year and will be held at 6:30pm in the library. Please join us and share your ideas on how to make our school great as well as hear directly from teachers and the Principal on education issues and priorities.  

We will also be holding the PAC Executive Election. A few of our current individuals will be stepping down and we are seeking new volunteer parents to join  to help lead the organization of all the great things we do at A.R. Lord. 

PAC Executive positions include: 

• Chair (or Co-Chairs can be shared position) - key lead and liaison for the PAC, chairs meetings
• Communications (manages correspondence, social media, email and communications)
• Treasurer - manages finances, cash, payments, bank reconciliation, cheques 
• Members-at-Large - (typically upto 3 but can be more) general positions that take on various lead roles including events, hot lunch, grants, fundraising etc. 

The PAC Exec lead and coordinate the many parent volunteers that our school is lucky to have. The existing PAC Exec is happy to do some training and help new members get up to speed and ready for next school year.

All are welcome to the PAC Meeting this Tuesday April 11th at 6:30pm in the Library. 
Free Childminding provided during the meeting.

Friday April 7th - PAC Hot Lunch for those that have preordered

Saturday April 8th - Garibaldi/AR Lord Manure Sale in the parking lot West of the School. 9am-1pm (or until we sell out). 

Tuesday April 11th - PAC Meeting in the library at 6:30pm. All welcome. We will be discussing planning for the family dance, sports day, year end bbq and upcoming pac exec elections plus an update from the School Principal on the school strategic plan and school budget.

PAC Picnic Sunday

Dr. A.R. Lord families: attend the 5:30pm abbreviated PAC Meeting on Sunday on the school grounds. An informal picnic bbq will follow.  Bring-Your-Own picnic and something to share!

PAC Meeting Tuesday May 10th

Parents and Caregivers of A.R. Lord Elementary, please join us on Tuesday May 10th for the PAC meeting and AGM Elections for the new PAC Executive: 6:00-6:30pm in the library

A free presentation session will follow:  BC Teacher's Federation Session:  Social Media 4 Parents. Facilitated by Parent/Teacher Sara Martin. Learn about how to protect your children in a social media environment.

PARENT ADVISORY COUNCIL MEETING THIS TUESDAY APRIL 5TH IN THE LIBRARY AT 6:30PM.  JOIN US TO DISCUSS UPCOMING EVENTS, HEAR ABOUT WHAT IS GOING ON AT THE SCHOOL, TALK TO THE PRINCIPAL AND TEACHER REPRESENTATIVES.

Note that the next PAC Meeting will be held on Tuesday October 20th at 6:30pm in the School Library.  Child minding will be available. We will discuss:

• Upcoming events including Halloween Hot Lunch, Winter Gear Swap
• Grants and Fundraising
• PAC Classroom funds and Teacher's wish list
• Updates from Principal and Teachers
• Marker recycling initiative
• etc.

Save the Date: September PAC Meeting

We will be hosting our first Parent Advisory Council meeting on Tuesday September 22nd in the school library.  6:30pm-8:00pm.  All parents/guardians are welcome to attend.  We will be discussing upcoming events and initiatives, and are always looking for ideas, volunteers, and ways to support the school, our teachers, staff and community.  Child minding will be available.  If you have any specific agenda items for consideration, please forward them to arlordpac@gmail.com

PAC Meeting and Big One @ 2 Emergency Drill May 7th Thursday

On Thursday this week the VSB emergency drill will be held at 2:00 pm. This will include release to authorized parents or designates as part of the procedure. Be sure to have your pickup contact information unto date. Please also ensure your child is dressed properly as the drill will be held outdoors.  

A reminder that this thursday evening at 6:30 will be the May 7th Parent Advisory Council Meeting.  The meeting will be held in the school library and childminding is provided.  Elections for PAC Executive will also be held. 

Friday May 1st Crazy Hair and Crazy Dressup Day!

Dress up in your craziest, wackiest outfit and have a bad hair day on Friday! This fun filled day is brought to you by Dr. A.R. Lord Student Council!
Also, mark your calendar for next week PAC meeting at 6:30pm Thursday May 7th in the library.  Find out about end of year events and get the Principal's report.  We'll discuss sports day, grade 7 graduation, and the outdoor classroom project.  We are also holding elections for the new PAC term for Chair, Treasurer, Secretary, Communications, and upto 3 Members-at-Large.

Thanks to all for the fun family movie night last week held in the school gymnasium!  We had well over 100 participants and all enjoyed free popcorn.  The A.R. Lord Parent Advisory Council prides itself in supporting our children's education, partnering with the school staff and educators,  and building our school community in an accessible way for all.                                     Join the Parent Advisory Council Executive for the year ahead and help shape and create a great school experience for all!  Nominations and Elections will be held at the May 7th AGM/PAC Meeting for the following positions:
